HORIZON 2020 - cooperation between KET and KOI (Končar Renewable Energy Sources)

01/10/2019

Beginning of the EU Trinity developmental project

The development team of KONČAR – Power Plant and Electric Traction Engineering (KET) participated in a meeting in Brussels in early October, and thus the four-year work on the new TRINITY project began. The TRINITY project is funded from the EU’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program under the grant agreement no. 863874. The project involves 19 partners, mostly from the region. Since November 2017, a large number of partners have been participating in the CROSSBOW project as well, and KET is one of the key partners in this project. This project was submitted and prepared entirely with the help of KET’s experts, without the involvement of external consultants, thus confirming the excellence and capacity of KET to independently apply for and implement such projects.

The TRINITY project extends the topics of the previous project in the direction of the electricity market.  Development of the market in the region did not proceed at the same pace as in the west and north of Europe, and the aim of this project is to accelerate and harmonize the development of the regional market, based on experience from other regions and knowledge of the situation in the region. In this project, KET also has a partner from the Group: Končar Renewable Energy Sources participates in the project as the owner and operator of the Pometeno brdo wind farm, where they make a great contribution by means of practical experience and real data, which makes the project even more important. Considering the market aspects of the project, the knowledge and experience gained from the project will be particularly useful after the wind farm exits the guaranteed purchase price regime.

At the same time, Stjepan Sučić participated as a representative of KET in a workshop of the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency of the European Commission in Brussels. The workshop is related to participation in ongoing projects (FLEXCoop and HOLISDER), and KET presented the entire consortia of these two projects before the main European innovation agency and the financier of all projects under the Horizon 2020 Program.
